Assessment for the Expansion of the
Lucan Wastewater Treatment Plant
The Project: The Township of Lucan Biddulph initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
(MCEA) to investigate and evaluate options to increase capacity at the Lucan Wastewater Treatment
Plant (WWTP). The WWTP is located north of Lucan, at 6242 Fallon Drive. The MCEA considered
alternative solutions to increase the rated capacity in response to known and future servicing needs.
Through the evaluation of potential alternatives, the preferred solution is a staged expansion of the
WWTP, with Stage 1 increasing the capacity from 1,700 to 2,475 m3/day and Stage 2 from 2,475 to 2,700 m3/day. The expansion will take place within the existing fenced area of the WWTP site and one of the existing lagoon cells will be modified for storage of digested biosolids.
